And of course, daily fish oil capsules and normal daily cooking with canola oil is not sufficient for this diet. You will always need to have sufficient fat for the body to burn.

And so, heeding advice from Louis, this knowledgeable soon-to-be Physical Trainer, I was on a dangerous and arduous journey to find the legendary COCONUT OIL! Not to wash my hair, but to eat. To eat? Haha, you may laugh. But look at this. An interesting read.

The following article is an excerpt from The Healing Miracles of Coconut Oil by Bruce Fife, N.D. Since approximately 64% of coconut oil consists of medium chain triglycerides (MCT's) this article leads to an understanding of why coconut oil is so beneficial for our health and why it has rightly been called the healthiest dietary oil.

http://www.coconutoil-online.com/medium_chain_triglycerides.htm

I’ve also quoted the main points from the link above should you not be interested to read the whole page.

“An important component of breast milk is medium-chain fatty acids, principally lauric acid. Lauric acid is also the primary saturated fatty acid found in coconut oil. Apparently nature thought it essential to the baby's health to include it. Nature has a reason for everything it does. It doesn't do things, such as putting MCFA in milk, just for the fun of it.

Some of the important reasons medium-chain fatty acids are included in milk are improved nutrient absorption and digestive function. As noted earlier, pancreatic enzymes aren't even necessary to digest them. They also help to regulate blood sugar levels. Another very important function is that medium-chain fatty acids protect the baby from harmful microorganisms. The baby's immature immune system is supported by the antibacterial, anti-viral, anti-fungal, and anti-parasitic properties of these vital fatty acids. In fact, without these unique saturated fats, the baby would probably not survive long. It would become malnourished and highly susceptible to a myriad of infectious diseases.”

The only place to find coconut oil is… YOU GUESSED IT! Little India where you can find the majority of the Indian community! I went to Mustafa Centre and Mustafa Shopping Centre Supermarket to find the Coconut Oil! The place is so big! It’s like, the size of Carrefour! Just the supermarket alone! Not including the other levels that sells other items like clothes, electronics and miscellaneous stuff.

I was also faced with many brands and varieties of coconut oil, from crystal clear coconut oil, to yellowish clear coconut oil, to even white creamy looking coconut oil. Saw this friendly looking Indian aunty picking up this blue bottle of coconut oil, I approached her.

Me: Aunty, is this good?

Aunty: (Giving the very confident and satisfied look) Yes of course! Very good!

Me: Really?

Aunty: Yes, very good!

I hesitated.

Me: Is this good for cooking? Can eat?

Aunty: (Shows the shocked and weird face)

Me: ….

Aunty: I don’t know. I’ve never used it for cooking before.

And then, few other Indian aunties came in to join the commotion and gave their fair share of suggestions on the use of coconut oil, obviously, they do not cook with coconut oil. We were the only Chinese at the point of time.

They then suggested asking the supermarket’s Indian staff for help, and then each of them went to approach different people, and there I was with XiaoQi, looking puzzled.

With the help of the friendly Indian community, we managed to find a suitable edible coconut oil for consumption at a very reasonable price.

How does Coconut oil tastes like? Strictly good on its own, from my experience in my first meal drenched with coconut oil as I could not find a suitable container to bring to work, it is not good to mix it with other food.

Just take 10-15ml on its own with each main meal.

Health and Fitness - The Key to Life?

I come from a family with a long history of illnesses, to mention a few, diabetes, high blood, weak and painful knees/legs, and most importantly, stroke which broke my family. As of last Friday, i've ORDed already, starting work tomorrow..

So fast, 2 years has gone by since i've enlisted into the army.. The army has taught me a lot of things, becoming more like an adult, i really support the idea of guys having to go through National Service, as this 2 years of service will bring them through this phase of life, experience the transition from being a kid, to being an adult. That is not all, you'll learn to be more mature, understanding and tolerant towards everybody. Although inevitably, you'll bring in some traits into the camp, and out of the camp, that any person out there might not like like. So these are the few things you have to handle.

However, not all is well after going through the army. Backstabbing and hatred is also present in the army. I'm not sure why, close friends around me are also not sure why, some seem to behave kiddishly and still think that backstabbing and inducing others to hate someone, is so fun and enjoyable, they themselves do not stand away from their first person perspective and then view the situation as a whole. There is definately something wrong. Well, everything has become a past, letting it go, and let this be a learning experience for me :)

I like to work, i like to work, i just had to stress again. I like money being deposited into my bank account every month. I like being able to manage things, i like to experience the fast pace of life, being stressed up, and in turn, still able to handle the stress. Think these 5 years of working experience while i'm studying full time before i enlisted into the army has not left me yet.

Gotta imagine how my new working environment is like, will it give me lots of challenges, opportunities and room for improvement? Or will it be just deadtone, boring stuff everyday? I'm still hyperactive all day long, i also have a strong sense of urgency and like to do things fast, but rarely, on some days, i'll be damn demoralised, is that the trait of pisces? Most of the time when i'm feeling this way, i'll just think that the cause of it is not drinking enough water. Seriously, its not about the 2 fishes in the horoscope, its because when you drink not enough water, you will not feel like talking, and subsequently, you'll be like a dehydrated salted fish.

I need to get back to gyming, i've been in the gym like 2 to 3 times per week in camp. But ever since i started to clear off and leave few weeks ago, i've been slacking already. Like, maybe once or twice every 2 weeks.. I can already see and experience how lifting weights can do to me, not that big size though, its a slight improvement, i suggest everyone try it too, well, at least i do not have a flat chest now! Bwhaha :)

Well, this is a summary on what i've been wanting to type, its like, more than a year since i last blogged.. Things have changed..

I'll update again soon.. and lastly, welcome back, myself!

Phew..

Its been a grueling 2 months of training at the Recce Commanders Course. From killing eels to bashing through in the thick jungle to find check points in the wild, to rappeling from 5 storeys high, experiencing coastal swim and even resisting to interrogation as a Prisoner of War. My guess would be, i've done most of what other units have experienced, save for the airborne course for sure.

Since RCC has ended like, 1 to 2 weeks ago, i've embarked on ISPC, Infantry Scout Platoon Course, meaning, integrating with our man, currently Privates. Its been wierd adapting to the new changes once you have the 3 stripes on your sleeve. Like the priviledge to go anywhere without marching, where you make decisions on your own which will eventually affect all the troopers. Its a whole lot of responsibility and any consequences will be borne by us too. I treat it as good training. Managing people? I think its a whole lot of fun to brush up these skills.

I think i've lost touch in blogging already, sometimes couldn't find the motivation to write. But somehow or rather, i still needed to find a way to brush up and practice my writing skills. This is where blogging helps, i hope :) I certainly need to get things moving, like finding out what lies ahead in my future. Should i further my studies or should i get a job? Either route i choose, i would need to do a lot of preparation.

Xiaoqi has been busy these few weeks because of her irregular shifts from her full time job as a nurse, and in addition to that, new assignments like fashion shows and hair shows keep her pretty occupied in whatever that's left of her spare time. Well, its a good thing for sure, which means additional income, who doesn't like it anyway. For her, its just additional shopping money, haha.

I've been spending the whole day at home today, which prompted me to start blogging again. I seriously need to visit my mom and my granduncle. Qing Ming is coming, and i wouldn't be able to book out on that day, i would visit them next weekend.

Moving On...

Think i've left this blog stagnant for quite some time already. It's been a 2 months since i last blogged. Lots of happenings in the army too.

Just a brief description about life in SISPEC, it was fun while it lasted. Well, my encounters with larger than palm sized spiders, wild boars, snakes and cobras gave me an experience i would never forget. The wild boar even made off with my food rations! After passing out from BSLC (Basic Section Leader's Course) with the rank of a corporal. All of us had a choice of moving on to ASLC or being posted to Unit. Few days before our parade, there was an interview for 6SIR. They came to do interviews for Recce Commanders. A few of us were selected for the interview, and on hearing that it will be quite 'shiong', some of them backed off. No one knew where we are posted to, until the very day we passed out.

For me? I was quite excited and expressed interest to be a Recce Commander at the interview, nevermind the tough training. It was going to be a challenging task for me. On that day, when postings were announced, everyone was so eager to find out. Just like Secondary 4 students waiting for their 'O' level results, like Primary 6 students waiting for their results too.

When the Staff Sergeant announced my name for 6SIR, woah, i felt relieved. Yay, 'siong' training for me. It may sound wierd, but why go for siong training when you can slack all the way? Different mentality mah, i came to army to train up mentally and physically. If i can endure all these with an open mindset, training wouldn't be that tough afterall.

Besides, after passing through BSLC and on that very day i reached Maju Camp 6SIR, i saw some of my BMT and Polytechnic friends over there. They were the ones who didn't want to go or were not selected to go OCS or SISPEC. So currently, there just had to go through physical training everyday routinely.

As a Recce Commander, what would i do there? The first 3days, i basically watched TV the whole day and then book out. Easy life eh, 7am to 5pm watching TV in an air-conditioned room. Haha! Though it wouldn't happen again lar, the reason why we had the opportunity to do that is because they didn't have a place to put our bags and stay in overnight. So we had to wait for an available bunk for us to stay, which will be at the end of the year.

Coincidentaly, there is a vehicle movement course that we can go. Which means, i can have free driving lessons in the army and get a free military licence. It can't be converted into a civilian driving licence unless you clock 7,000 km in your jeep. Nice one, i'm gonna call my driving instructor and book a driving date.

So, the whole of December, i get to learn driving at Kaki Bukit Driving centre from 8am-5pm and then go home. Once i'm done with the course, i would prepare for my 8week Recce course in Pasir Lebar camp for me to get promoted to a 3rd Sergeant. Men would also be transferred to me under my charge. Between these 2 courses, i would only have 5 days to prepare.

It's kind of rush, but i like it, because being promoted as soon as possible means more money for me! Snipers were also recruited in the same batch. There's a total of 13 Recce Commanders and 11 Snipers. Too bad for Snipers, since there is only 1 Sniper course per year, they will start their course in March and then end in July. Woah, i wonder what they'll be doing these few months without their proper course. Well, that's what i heard.

With more time on my hands now, i'll try to spare time to visit my Mom and Granduncle these few weeks. You'll probably see me here updating regularly too. See ya all!

Life in Sispec..

So far, it has been fun, well, i don't really have the mood to type any further. It doesn't help that she has been sick for the past 9 years because of her stroke. This time, she's being admitted to the hospital for a serious case of pneunomia.

I passed out from BMT last week, but i didn't cherish the free time i had. I went out, i played games at home, but didn't visit her in her room. I walked past the room and only acknowledged her. I know it was bad of me, i throughly regret it. I had so much time to communicate and be with her, I just came back from the hospital, it didn't look good.

It was just last night, when my maid informed me about my mom, i went into the room and have a look, i knew something was wrong. No matter how hard we tried to attract her attention, my mom had no response. *Sigh* I called up my dad and he told me that mom was already like this in the afternoon. I was like, 'huh!?' I suggested to my dad that we should call an ambulance instead. He was thinking of bringing her to see our family doctor. But i told him that her condition is really serious, furthermore, it also didn't help that she had temperatures hovering at 39 to 40 degrees these 3 days. Immediately after the telephone conversation, my maid and i brought her down to our family doctor. After reviewing her case, the ambulance was then alerted. The family doctor was trying his best to do all the preparatory work to decrease the workload of the paramedics while they're on their way on the ambulance.

My father and my sister was also informed, they quickly rushed back as soon as they could. As the paramedics was transporting my mom out of the clinic, my dad came in his taxi, and my sister was walking to the clinic after getting off the bus. It was 10.30pm.

I was the one in the ambulance. Things were chaotic. My dad ferried my sister to Changi Hospital. We left the hospital at 3am last night.

Our family received a call this morning. Doctor says things don't look good. Prepare for the worst.. We went down to the hospital immediately and was informed that there were 2 things that we can do.

But given her condition, no matter what we do, will add to her suffering. It's already time..

Our dad throughly believes that, when its time to go, its time to go.

Dad is strong, he had remained calm and composed all these while. So many things had happened in this family. She always tries to control her tears, but breaks down often. I feel like breaking down too, but i had to be strong in front of my family, sometimes, tears stream down my cheeks uncontrollably. Especially when i think of how little time i've spent with my mom these few days.

I'm still unwilling to let her go, i have not done enough, i should have gone into her room and visited her, talk to her, hold her hands and make her feel comfortable. Reminding her that she still has a son, a family that cares about her.. i wouldn't have felt so bad if i had spoke to these few days.

Why didn't i go into her room? I could do anything else, but i was a little lazy on blogging during my weekend bookouts. I had to treasure that 24 hours book out every weekend and make full use of the time, man..

Everything came out smoothly, i've graduated from BMT, although inter-personal relationships didn't came out well in the camp, but i soon realised that, it wasn't entirely my fault after all.

Remember i was talking about my best buddies in BMT, especially in my section? Yep, i went into the army with the intention to train up and give my best. I soon realised that i almost landed myself into trouble when the my 2 buddies always tried to malinger their way through. Most of the time, they seem to escape responsibilty and roles passed on to them, and they will only do it when they have no choice, otherwise, you'll see them disappear into thin air without a trace, yeah. That's the sentence, all of a sudden, they just disappear.

Yes, they malinger, they are my best buddies. He's willing to make the effort to really persevere and cheong along with me, its great motivation.

What actually happen? I'm sort of the person who's not afraid to confront, correct mistakes and even question on the spot if i see things going out of the way. I basically feel that, its better to thrash things out immediately instead of waiting here and there, then resulting in the backstabbing of people. 1 of the common mistakes in that friendship was that, they keep blaming me for exposing them whenever they try to malinger, haha, yeah rite, if i can actually expose them so many times, means that i am probably not the only one who feels that way too.

What does the term exposing mean?

Scenario 1

*Work Comes*

A: Starts to do something so unrelated which is kinda obvious

Me: Hey, you can do that later, let's go help out

A then stares back at me with that kind of *suspicious looking eyes*

**Exposed**

Scenario 2

*Work Comes*

A suddenly slips off and disappears

The rest will go and help out, and when the work is done, they suddenly reappear again.

Me: Yo, where did you all go? There was something to do earlier on

A: Huh, i don't know.. i went to do something else more important..

Me: .... But you all were here just now wat..

A then stares at me with that 'suspicious looking eyes' like how you half close your eyes and stares at ppl from a certain angle while tilting your head.

A: Tell you later, tell you later..

*Obviously he's scared of the people around him finding out*

No offence, but that really shouldn't be the way when everyone else is trying their best instead of you all. And i'm not just directing this sentence to just my 2 close buddies, its also for the rest who actually tries to feign their way through too. Its a waste of them if you 'keng' your way through these 2 years, i would rather you try and in a way, improve yourselves too.

These 3 months we've forged close relationships, and towards the end of it, its almost broken. How am i able to salvage this friendship if you guys keep things to yourself and keep discussing on ways to avoid extra work?

Oh, and good luck to all the substitutes who've had to cover your guard duty shifts during the bloc leave, because for some reason, the 2 of you fell sick again :)

And may i present to you, the Kewl Gang!

Looks like 1 big happy family! We've been through so much.

The graduation parade was really fun, the rehearsals were sucky though. All of us had to repeat the sequence over and over again. It also marks the end of our greulling training that we've suffered for the past 3 months. And for those who's going on further to command school, there's more to come, haha. The trainings are even more 'siong' than normal Basic Military Training.

It was also our honour to have Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong as our reviewing officer. It was the first time to have a Prime Minister appear in Graduation Parades. Why did he actually want to come this year? Rumour has it that his son is also in the Parade, wow. How true is it? I don't know..

The parade started out with the marching of contingents into the parade square into their positions. Total of 8 companies are involved in the graduation parade. The parade proceeded with a song of ' Stand up for Singapore', then arrival of Prime Minister, followed by a salutation from us to PM Lee. PM Lee gave a speech on his NS life and how different it is presently, he was also invited to inspect the contingents at the front.

Company by company, we would have to march past the grandstands filled with friends and families of the trained soldiers, dumped all our helmets and SBOs in the carpark, and then proceeded to run into the parade square in an orderly manner while singing a song entitled, ' Training to Be Soldiers'

Once in position, parents are invited to go up to the soldiers and put on the jockey caps for us. To me, it was the most meaningful part of the parade, as parents actually see the process of being a recruit to a private, the end of our BMT.

My dad, gf and me. Had to suffer for 3 more days till i get back to Singapore for more medication. All the trainings i've missed out.. argh..

My Graduation Ceremony

It was my graduation ceremony on 15th of July. I booked out the night before at 8pm and had a nice sleep at home before waking up the next morning at 8am to prepare for my graduation.

I was surprised as my girlfriend is able to make it to the ceremony, because she actually had to work that day. Sadly, she fell sick, and therefore had the chance to get medical leave to be with me.

I was actually contemplating whether to still attend the graduation ceremony or not, because, it is pointless for me since no one else is gonna watch me. My dad and sister could not make it too.

I was relieved though.

I reached the school's auditorium at 9am sharp, as we had to report in 1 hour earlier before the graduation ceremony starts. Everyone seemed familiar, but yet so distant. It seemed like, everyone was getting along with their life very well, meeting new friends and all, forgetting about old friends, and moving on.

I met Mandy, we updated ourselves, and she did not register online for the seating too, so she was beside me all the way throughout the ceremony. It was dead bored, but my heart was thumping the moment before i go on stage. I was careful not to make a mistake, like shooting out my left hand and left leg at the same time, and walk the next step with the right hand and right leg.

Yes, psychomotor. I don't suffer from that, and never will! Learnt that term in the army when some people can't march properly and coordinate their body well.

Here's some blur pictures.

Me in Smart 4 before going on stage. Mandy's in front of me. I can't visualise myself being botak, and yet wearing formal attire.
So my decision is, if you're botak, wear the army uniform.

Me receiving the blank folder from dunno who's that guy. Had to pose for 2 cameras right in front of the stage, so gotta flash my pearlie yellowish whites! Yay!

Me and my girlfriend. She was late for like 10 minutes and i didn't manage to pass her the invitation passes. The ushers let her in nonetheless without any questions asked.
I feel that the picture is too dark, we were standing in the wrong direction, we should've faced where the sunlight was shining. Ah, its okay.

I've graduated officially! Let's do this all together in 1 shot. I went out with my close NS buddies last Saturday. Robin, Melvin and Boon Keong. Han joined us shortly after. I didn't have a camera with me that day, although i wished i had, so i can capture all the fun we had.

We met up in Bugis with my girlfriend, and we proceeded to have dinner at the coffee shop just behind Bugis Junction. All of us had fish soup noodles except for Melvin who opted to have laksa. I didn't know the food tasted so good there, or i'm sick and tired of the food in Pulau Tekong.

Anyway, my girlfriend had to leave for her night shift work in SGH, and left the 3 of us to fool around. We were looking for a place to play pool in Bugis, it seems like many of the palours have shifted, and it took us quite a while to find the exact place. We ended up in Parklane Square near dhoby ghaut. We rushed the games because we wanted to play for just an hour. Han joined us at the pool salon, being the busy guy he was, he's probably just too tired to play with us, but sat there and chatted with us. Han had something on, so he left after half an hour. After pool, we proceeded to the next destination, a lan shop, there, we played for 1 and a half hours, playing warcraft and counterstrike where we immerse ourselves in the magics of wizardry and pump each other with bullets.

It was already 11.30 by the time we left the lan shop. Robin took a cab home, and Melvin and i rushed for the last train home.

This is a boring entry, should've brought a camera along to spice up this post. Yeah..

Booking in again today..

Ahhhhhhhhh!

Everything nice will come to an end. Throughly enjoyed myself these 2 days with my gf who has been giving me support and all. Actually life in national service is not tough, it all lies in the mindset. I went to serve the army for the next 2 years with the mentality of transforming my body, and training up. So, with this point, i managed to handle things differently from other people.

So, if you ever encounter anyone who's currently in national service, who keeps whining here and there, which i believe, there are more than 80% who's doing that, just tell them they have no choice, its just time to train up their body and be a MAN!

Yesterday was a very nice day, spent the whole day with my girlfriend. While she just received her bonus few days ago, she managed to spent more than 3/4 of her bonus on shopping. $400!!! Well, you can actually check out all her buys on her blog. I personally think that, although we really spent a lot, all those are actually good buys. We're both seasoned shoppers, and when i mean seasoned, its not like we buy anything that's cheap. When it comes to shopping, there are different steps we must take.

1. Understanding the situation - What kind of sale it is
2. Exploring various alternatives - Whether you can find a better substitute for that item in terms of price and design
3. Determine feasibility - Are you sure you are going to wear or need this in future? Buy something that is useful
4. Making the decision - After trying, and if it looks perfect on you, just buy it, because the chances of you encountering it in future are as close as 1 in a million

Well, sounds like a typical strategy that we learnt during my poly time, but this is what i can remember now. If i have the time, i can actually come up with a diagram for that too. And it just so happen that these steps actually ran through my mind with a snap of my fingers. *SNAP* Yep, just like that. Got it?

I have around 7 to 8 more hours before i book in again, and this feeling of waiting dreads me. I don't really like to wait.. I need to balance between having this type of freedom, enjoying myself with girlfriend and family, and civilization, or being around with sweaty naked guys swinging their ding dongs around, working out on dirty floors and grass fields, be it wet or dry, under the scorching sun which gives you a nice tan, or sunburn, where heat rash and sweat rash appears anytime on any part of your body as often as you see chiobus with mini skirts passing by in Orchard Road.

And this entry would just be a tempory stop, this small little break for me after 2 weeks of compulsory confinement is just like a honeymoon to me. I really enjoyed myself, the feeling of being free again. Haha, well, see ya civilians around man... I AM BOTAK!!!!

Back from the Army! Finally!

Okay, i'm back. I can't believe i actually forgot to add a new entry before i enlisted on 9th June. Ahh, well, nevermind. And this is actually my first book out after being in Pulau Tekong for the whole of 2 weeks, away from civilization.

Being in the army, was a different feeling, there were strict rules to follow, and lots of vulgarities were used everywhere. I was clueless about the army before i enlisted, so after being in there for the whole of 2 weeks, i learnt many things, including ranks and such.

It was physically demanding too, but i didn't mind it, afterall, my priority in National Service, is to build and train up my body in 13 weeks. I could already see results just after 2 weeks. And in fact, i gained a total of 4 to 5 kg in these 2 weeks!

I especially loved the food there, rumours spreading that the food in Pulau Tekong sucks were quickly erased from my mind. There is western food, chinese food, prawns, chicken fillets, anything you can think of! Just spare the delicacies like bird's nest, abalones and sharks fin from me!

Oh yeah, i'm also botak now, dun wanna post up my picture, haha, and i love the tan on my body now, haha, more manly, i supposed.

Well, i'll be back to update, i'm just too tired...

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://inquestie.blogspot.com/2005/06/back-from-army-finally.html' title='Back from the Army! Time passed very fast today, especially when i've not slept enough, and rushed my way down from Suntec Giordano to Bugis Parkview Square. And if you're wondering, yes, i worked from 10am to 5pm in Giordano, then started working at Divine from 5.30pm to 11pm.

Just as i finally managed to get along well with everyone there, i had to leave already. Well, it was not entirely a sad moment, it was kind of a relief for me to leave the job, so i can concentrate on Giordano till 5th of June, and that's the end of my 4 1/2 years of working life.

Its been so tiring for me, and the next thing on my mind is to get into National Service and build up my body, train my physique and to learn the next level of maturity, not that i'm that childish, its maybe the way i handle things.

Well, i can't say much for myself now, i just have to experience army life and then gauge whether its true or not, after that, i can cross my legs, turn my palms facing upwards, with my middle finger touching my thumb resting on both laps, i can self proclaim that i've attained a level of divinity and maturity.

Thanks a lot, People of Divine Society and Staff of Chyau Fwu Group, i'll visit you some day.. I've seriously learnt a lot about the ways on how rich people lead their lives :)

Virus Attacks Reported in my very OWN Computer

First signs of virus detected few weeks ago when a small little window will pop out suddenly, and then disappeared in 1-2 seconds, leaving me speechless for a moment. This continues whenever my computer is on, like duh!

Well, and so i declared virus intrusion to my whole family, namely my sister and girlfriend, and then prepared for emergency evacuation aka backup of records and transferring of important documents to gmail accounts because formatting the computer is probably the only way to solve the problem now.

And then, it finally struck, my computer keyboard was disabled, the serial port was disabled or probably spoilt, i can't even key in my password to log into my computer, ah, everything i tried, like changing a keyboard and all that stuff failed.

Brought it down to a computer shop to fix it, but in vain, i saved the money instead.

Firstly, i'm not a nerd, but somehow or rather, i just know what i had to do..

Get a USB keyboard and 4 port USB hub so i can more USB hubs, and there i am, blogging all these to interested people out there. The problem is not solved though, i still have the virus and in the midst of backuping documents.

There are so many problems happening to my computer that it gives me a frown whenever i think of it. Problems faced were:

1. Unable to start the computer without pulling the plug out - Whenever i pressed power on, it didn't work, the light is just blinking, i had to pull the power cord out and reconnected it back so that the computer can start properly

2. Updated the bios, but the processor speed is still running at 750 mhz instead of 1ghz

3. The stupid virus window keeps popping out whenever it likes, any way to solve it?

4. Reserved for updates.

Increased violence among teenagers

Late in the night at 11pm, while enjoying my piping hot bowl of healthy yong tau foo soup with my girlfriend, a startling conversation pierced through the 'nice ambience' in the food court in Hougang Plaza, which irritated me, those young fkers!

' Na Bei Lah, where you want to go later? '

' Kan ni na, my parents want me to go home oready ley!'

'Wah, you damn G Y*(words edited due to censorship) one ley, don't like that ley, i treat you cigarette want or not? '

At this point of time which i turned my head over and stared at them, i dropped my jaws as i observed the group carefully, forgetting the half chewed food in my mouth. The group, not older than 14 to 17 years old are smoking, speaking foul languages, and the most important thing, not even at home that late at night?

Bad company i supposed.

Another situation that i encountered while i'm in the bus.

' That xxx xxxx wah, si bei xia lan in school ley, first day in school bring basketball dowan to share with the seniors, after school he kena beaten up by them'

People who don't know how to think.

Sigh, obviously, this is actually becoming a common sight these days, with all those milk formulas being churned out by some american laboratories fortified with Vitamins A-Z, its no wonder that kids nowadays are become smarter and know how to defy parents' instructions.

This makes me wonder what i am going to do with my kid in future. I need to get some house rules going. I DEFINATELY do not want any of my kids to become like this, like all other good parents, my kids will hopefully be filial to parents, and have good upbringing.

As such, these are the house rules i am going to impose when i have kids in future.

This is especially effective for kiddos who do not know how to think from 12 to 17 years old.

1. Come home before 11pm at any day. There is no reason why you should stay out this late after school.

2. If needed, provide a valid explaination why you did not go home straight after school finishes at 3pm or 4pm.

3. Tell me about your friends, invite them to our house, let me get to know them. That's what my mom did, so she knows who i'm messing around with.

4. After you graduate with an 'O' level certificate, you need to get a part time job to learn the way of life, learn the hard way, learn how to be tough, be street smart, and know how to manage your money well.

5. Do not throw tantrums at home, we can just speak out minds, free speech is very important, tell me what happened, and i'll give you a solution. You throw tantrums, meaning you can't control your emotions well. Its not fair for you to throw tantrums at me when i've not done anything wrong.

6. Able to speak well and express yourself well at any point of time. I hate people who can't express themselves properly.

7. If you have a boyfriend or girlfriend, tell me about it, don't hide it from me, just make sure you young little couple don't... don't.... err.. nvm, you'lll do it anyway anyhow...

8. Lastly, No SMOKING WHATSOEVER.

Well, so far, these are the key points that should aid in the upbringing of a growing teenager in this cruel society.

Nurses Deserves Respect - Think about it

I was concerned about the recent ramblings by my girlfriend for the past week, about how the patients and their relatives are treating them badly, in terms of rudeness, or have utterly no respect for nurses at all. And no, she didn't mention about all these in her blog. Its just something that keeps lingering on in my mind.

And yes, i almost wrote to the newspaper regarding respect for nurses. The media could possibly do an investigation or a survey on the current nursing scene and how the public actually feels about the job. The media would definately draw attention into the nurses' life and more people will then find out how most nurses feel about their job. And most importantly, how the public actually views nursing as a job. Dirty job? Low pay? What's more, someone who can't study? It is better to clear up all uncertainties as there is definately mixed reactions from the public.

Being a nurse you have the opportunity to save and improve lives, to teach people how to achieve better health, to advocate for patients to make sure they have the best health care every day without fail. If that is not enough, they take so much time in caring for other people that they risk themselves by being in the front line especially caring for you idiots out there. Not that their pay is THAT HIGH, their pay is miserably low. Now, this is another reason why there is a shortage of nursing staff everywhere.

My girlfriend became a nurse because it was a childhood dream. Her mum was once a nurse in Taiwan. Now she's following her footsteps. Yes, you will be saying, ' Waaah, nurse ah.. so honourable... so noble.. so much sacrifice... ' That's from the group of people who admires nursing because they actually know how much nurses have been through caring for people.

And there is another group, the take-all-things-for-granted-thinking-that-you're-the-only-one-in-the-whole-hospital- group. For instance, you pressed the call bell or informed a nurse that you need her to be there, and if she is occupied at the moment, just WAIT. Most people who belong to this group can't wait or even understand. But the problem is, there are many other patients waiting to do the exact routine too! Nurses can't cater to you just like that! Imagine just 1 nurse to a ward of 8 patients when a procedure could take up to 30 minutes!

It doesn't help if you insult the nurse, it doesn't help if you keep forcing the nurse to attend to you first when your condition is exactly the same as the rest. Moreever, it doesn't help if you or your relatives command the nurse to do whatever you think is right. Look, whose job is this? Who knows the job more than everyone else? The nurses themselves right? So just ask her politely and she'll be more than happy to serve you!

Which side are you? The good or the bad? I am sure Nurses deserve a little more respect than other jobs. I wasn't happy when i first met my girlfriend who is pursuing to be a nurse, but i had to understand that it is her dream to be one. Now, i've learnt to accept that being a nurse brings more advantages than disadvantages. Just one thing to note, i dislike her shift hours. I think shift hours gives couples and families lesser time to be together..

I've no qualms about writing about all these, i just wanted the public to understand what is actually going on in the life of nurses. Definately, there are some happy stories to share being a nurse. Having a patient discharged from a ward, jumping around and smiling, people who get admitted, getting all the care they need, leaving the ward and then sending cards back to thank all the health care staff. Yes, these bright and cheerful moments will definately being a tear to most, if not, all nurses in the health care industry.

To make things clear, these do not represent what my girlfriend has said. These are thoughts that have been going through my mind for the past 2 weeks after she told me that the maid and relatives are bullying her till she almost cried. That keeps her wondering whether all the things she has been doing is still worth it. I certainly do not wish anything would befall on her as a result of what i've wrote here regarding incidents that happened in her ward, if things need to be done, i would gladly remove this entry if you provide a valid explanation

With that, i humbly end my speech, giving tribute to all nurses out there sacrificing their time and risking their lives with such a miserly pay without getting the respect they actually deserved.. Toiling their lives away for people who don't appreciate..

Just concerned..

Working, meeting different people from different backgrounds

Well, what comes to mind when working? For money? Yes of course, anyone who denies that would probably had a silver spoon stuck in his/her mouth ever since the first day they came into the world.

What difference would it make eh! How tough can it be! Its just meeting new people. Yes, part and parcel of life, you do meet strangers and get to know each other everyday. Meeting and making new friends in school are so easy, with a snap of your fingers, coupled with a sense of style and charm, in addiction to your good looks, and provided that you don't have any body odour to match. Friends will flock your way.

In the working world, it is just so partly true! Yes, you get friends, you get jobs, you get people who treat you well when you're good looking. This matters more to ladies than guys. From my experience, the male species are usually the more chee hong type, who would care for their own buddies when it comes to chiobus?! And pretty much the same, the ladies would stick with their own group, whisper and gossip among themselves about that new guy and everything else on earth except on how to approach that guy to strike up a conversation. They usually leave it to my fellow counterparts to be 'automatic'. Why do i suddenly ramble on and on in this paragraph? Peek at the paragraph after the next below.

I started out hard in Giordano for the first few months, its already been 2 and a half years already, i couldn't say more, but to just say thanks for the $19600+ not including CPF that i've earned from you! Besides that, the staff in Giordano are so nice and friendly, besides being strict in customer service and the things that you are allowed to do and not to do, i feel that its 1 of the best working place that i've been so far in my 4 years of working life!

As you know, i picked up a new part time job, a waiter in Divine Wine bar, owned by Chyau Fwu Group. Got this job after bugging and persuading TingTing aka Juleana about her job. From what i found out, its a property developer. And this company, i must say, is filthy rich. On my first day of work, i got to find out that 1 of the few glass tables placed in the bar, costs $27,000!

OMG! GASP!

You guys should go down to Parkview square to have a look! Its situated just behind Raffles Hospital! The office building with lots of expensive statues has its lobby actually converted into a Wine Bar!

Well, like i said, meeting different people from different backgrounds, been working for 3 days times 4 weeks = 12 to 14 days there already, had conflicts with some of the staff there. I'm not sure whether its entirely my fault or not, but they seemed kinda hostile at first. Quarreled a few times with 1 of their full time staff too, but just recently, like yesterday, we cleared up some misunderstandings.

Its good that he's willing to approach and clear up mistakes, i believe that both of us are at fault, but then, i really appreciate that he's speaking up.

What happened? Let's make this short and sweet. I'm from sales line. He's from F&B line. I have experience in F&B line before. He expects me to know everything about F&B because i had experience. When i asked question, or when i do things the wrong way, he was frustrated because i was SUPPOSED to KNOW everything. And who else would know WHAT i AM SUPPOSED TO DO when i just stepped into your company after working in sales for 28 months!

Dude, gimme a break man! I'm getting the hang of it yo, i pick up things FAST! Yes, as in learning new stuff :)

Now i'm finally back

I've been missing for a couple of months already, its just time to update people who're interested about my whereabouts. Somehow, ever since that first and virgin post, which had people thinking that THAT could possibly be the last entry, will now look forward to more stuff.

Haha, and i've graduated from Temasek Polytechnic already, finally, no more exams or anything to worry about. This is something that most people would agree with me, i'll be attending my graduation ceremony somewhere in July, update me anyone?

Currently, i'm waiting for National Service!! Many guys dread the thought of going in tekong or any other training bases because they don't wanna do anything. But I AM going in there with a target in mind! To build up my body, know those gentle guys with great bodies nowadays, you might even mistake them for gays too, i don't know about that! I JUST WANNA HAVE THEIR BODIES! Bwhahahhahaah! We shall see after 2 years of National Service Training. Enlisting on 9th of June! Anyone enlisting on the same date too? Bug me!

While waiting for National Service, i'm still working part time in Giordano, struggled for 2 and a half years there already, experienced lots of fun and laughter, and of course, stress and tears too. With part of my life occupied by Giordano since its just a part time job. I took up another part time job in Parkview Square, a high class wine lounge, as a waiter. The pay is above average, just comparable to Giordano only, but Giordano pay is higher as a part timer :) So, there ya go, 2 part time jobs at once, earning all the money out there before i go into National Service as an underpaid soldier!

And to end this brief update about my life, i passed all my exams too, not with flying colors, but just average results. Hope future and potential employers will look into character and experience instead of just academic results!

Something to think about.. Virgin Blog..

Life's as usual.. the boring stuff, waking up.. and then preparing for work since it's my 1 week holiday after the mid semestral tests. And holy shit, i'm working 6 days out of 7 days this week!

Some interesting stuff happened while i was at work today.. There was this group of girls, who's working outside my shop, persuading people who's walking past them to try on their contact lenses. Apparently, they're working for ciba vision, they're holding a promotion fair outside my shop in parkway parade. I was kind of interested, as i was wearing contact lens myself too. Besides, the girls promoting the lenses was kind of, hmm.. i'll keep my comments to myself! Otherwise.. muahahhahaa

Alex, who's also a part timer in the shop, i've been working with him for a long time.. He's interested in one of the girls outside. AS USUAL! He's always interested in ANY GIRLS that's better than average looking and has a good figure! Guys! Just recommend him a stable girlfriend! He's flirtish! And he meets girls like, almost every night in the week in clubs and he drives a car too! Omg, he's currently studying in Temasek Polytechnic, year 1 :)

Okay, back to the contact lens girls blog, i asked alex,

"So what are they promoting? Free trial contact lenses ah? "

"Yeah, probably lor"

"So, is it daily disposable ones, weekly or monthly? It'll better be monthly ones!"

"Woah.. "

"Let's go approach them and find out! Bwhahaha, and go talk to the girls!"

And there, we're off! It was also the time for him to sign out, at 6pm, and coincidentally, i was having my break.. And when we approached the lone girl, who was standing at the counter..

"Eh.. you are offering free trial pack for contact lens rite? Is it daily ones or weekly ones?"

"Oh, its daily disposable ones! "

BanG!

Okay, from there, she promoted the contact lenses to us, and including the current colorblends contact lens promotion. I think she mentioned something about buying a box, that is their latest design for 45 bucks, and then she'll give another box, which is another design for free. Alex, who's always the cheongster, was interested in it.. As he's currently wearing a pair rite now.. For myself, i do wear contact lenses.. but not color ones.. I find it too expensive...

I proceeded to ask the girl..

" Hmmm, you work here part time rite?"

"Yeah"

"How much is your pay?"

"7.50 per hour"

"WoAH! That's a lot!! Omg... We're just paid 6.50 per hour and we have to do all these shit!"

"See the gal there? She's paid 9 bucks per hour! Because she's the optom..."

Both of us went.. '' .... "

She then proceeded to say, " And know what, she's still currently studying and working part time "

And then i guess, " Ah, it must be that optom course in nanyang poly... their starting pay is 3000!"

She corrected me and said it was Singapore Poly.

And there we go, breaking the ice, and asking around who's the person in charge, secretly, haha, and being the inquisitive me, i asked if there's any commission if she managed to sell anything.

" 1 dollar per box "

" Ah! No wonder! I see you gurls approaching people like crazy! So motivated and hardworking! Aiyoh... ! "

" You all very observant hor?"

".... Errr.. well.. you gurls are just in front of us mah.. "

" So how long till this promotion lasts? How long more will you all be here till?"

"Sunday's the last day.. but if you all wanna buy hor.. come on satuday.. cos i working wor.. "

"Eee.. you wanna get the commission rite.. hahahah "

"hahahahhaaa!"

At this moment, i saw the goldheart gal waving at me, then she hinted me with her hands to call alex, and i told alex about it. Suddenly alex started to move away, they're probably gonna go smoke together i guess.

" Ah, i'll see you next time lar, i gonna start work already.. got any freebies give us hor..! "

"Okay lor, hehe "

And there i was going back to work.. ah, work was busy today.. lots of stuff to do, and i was at the counter the whole day! Most of the time, sorting out the stacks, transferring the stock from the storeroom to the cabinets and replenishing most of the stuff to the shop shelves.. And tadah! I was satisfied, feeling accomplished! I managed to replenish most of the clothes to the shelves!

When i happened to be at the entrance of the shop replenishing clothes, things started happening with the contact lens girl again.

She asked what's the staff discount for giordano.. I said 30%.. but i quickly replied, " Sometimes we might have to give 20%.."

Ah, just in case the manager finds out.. haha.. they've been quite strict about giving staff discount to strangers you know?

Oh, we managed to pull the conversation by shouting across each other.. She also promised to give me some freebies! Yay!

Haha, i got a pouch, 2 packs of 3 tissue papers, a pair of contact lenses, daily ones, and 2 bottles of contact lens solution! omg! haha.. don't call me greedy! Those are supposed to be free you know?!

I later realise that most of the gurls working there are still schooling in polytechnics.. and the gal who gave me all these freebies skipped lessons today.. I found out her name was April when she came into the shop to try something on.. I gave her my staff discount on that

But Alex wasn't interested in this gal.. he's interested in another gal.. a darker one.. hehe.. I managed to speak to her when she was eating aunty annie!

oh! That Aunty Annie gave me 1 of her pretzels.. SHit.. i forgot her name.. I think her name was.. ah.. i can't remember! omg.. She asked me to collect it from her at 10pm :) Yay! It was nice! Nice nice nice!

Well, back to work.. Lots of stuff to do during closing time, can't really elaborate on that.. my wrists hurts from my virgin blog.. ah.. tired..

But i'm not really happy how ida spoke to me earlier on, she's the 2nd in charge. Yes, she cracks jokes and had fun with all of us, but the way she commanded me earlier, ah, i couldn't take it, she could've just spoken to me softly, Yes, i'm the gentle sort of person if you just ask me nicely :) I would gladly do it for you!

The tone she gave was, just strict and commanding? ANd how did i reply? Yes! The same way she spoke to me, i'm not sure whether she realised it or not, but everything's over already, and we still talk to each other and laugh about it.

Everything's all well in the shop.. i might be transferring to suntec.. as hinted by Benny Goh, he's my shop in charge..

I'm also looking forward to see my results of my mid semestral tests.. ahh.. my calculus.... i'm gonna fail it..

Ciaoz and see ya guys again! I'm so long winded!!!!!!!!!!!

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://inquestie.blogspot.com/2004/08/something-to-think-about-virgin-blog.html' title='Something to think about..
